We are coffee roasters located in Austin, Texas. We search out coffees that exhibit unique and delicious flavor notes in the cup. All of our coffee is roasted on our vintage Diedrich drum roaster at our Wells Branch Roastery & Café in North Austin.
Malone coffee began at our breakfast table in 2013. Donna had just given birth to our second son and she was ready to get back to our morning routine of sharing a nice cup of coffee together to start the day. The problem was the coffee we were drinking was terrible. It required a bunch of sugar and creamers just to be barely palatable. I (Paul) was not willing to give up on our morning routine together, so I set out on a quest to improve our coffee experience. I started by trying different beans and brewing methods, but this resulted in only marginal cup quality improvement.
After months of research, I decided we should begin roasting beans ourselves because coffee is at its peak flavor and aroma for 2 weeks after roasting. The first time I roasted a batch of beans, it yielded the best cup of coffee we had ever had. The next batch was terrible but we knew we were onto something. Two years (and thousands of roasts) later, we officially incorporated and launched Malone Coffee. We began by selling coffee to friends, family, neighbors, and at farmers markets.
In 2017, the first Malone Coffee trailer launched. That year, I also left my corporate job to focus 100% on Malone Coffee. It was a big risk, but we knew we had a great product and without being able to focus exclusively on the growth of the company, it would not succeed. By the end of 2018, we had three coffee trailers around Austin. In 2019, we opened the Malone Coffee Roastery and Café to the public. Finally in 2020, we launched a catering division so that Malone Coffee can be enjoyed at events, gatherings, and corporate meetings throughout the Austin area.
Our mission is simple… to introduce people to coffee so good you can drink it black.
At all of our 4 Austin locations, we offer delicious signature lattes, espresso, drip brew, nitro cold brew, and butter coffee along with breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, bagels, and muffins. All of our coffee drinks are delicious but some of our top sellers are our Nitro Cold Brew, our single origin drip brews, our Austin Dream (a super delicious mocha), and our Southside Caramel (a cinnamon infused caramel latte).
